Now that the film has been cleared with a U/A certificate, it will release this Friday.

Speaking to IANS, Akshay Kumar said, “I have read news that the film has got eight or nine cuts from the censor board, but this is wrong. We have got three verbal cuts in the film. I don’t know from where this news comes that the film has got 8 cuts. I was surprised myself.”

The CBFC had reportedly objected to certain references to a bull and a scene featuring the janaeu, the religious thread worn by Hindu brahmins. The CBFC had also reportedly ordered a few additional cuts in the film.

However, the final cuts recommended by the CBFC appear to amount to minimal changes. In stark contrast, Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s new film Babumoshai Bandookbaaz is battling 48 cuts by the CBFC.

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha also stars Bhumi Pednekar, Divyendu Sharma, and Anupam Kher. The film aims to shed light on the poor sanitation facility in some villages in the country, and focuses on the importance of building toilets in these places.
