According to a Box Office India report, the Sukumar directorial currently stands at the sixth place in the list of South Indian films with the highest earnings. This list is headed by SS Rajamouli’s two-part film series, Bahubali: The Conclusion (2017) and Bahubali: The Beginning (2015), whose collections stand at Rs 1,116 crore and Rs 418 crore, respectively. They are followed by Rajinikanth’s 2.0 (2018) with Rs 413 crore, the Telugu film Saaho (2019), which has earned Rs 302 crore, and Endhiran (2010) with Rs 205 crore. Pushpa is positioned sixth, having collected Rs 204 crore in its first 16 days and overtaken Allu Arjun’s own Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo (2020), which just reached the 200 crore mark.

According to the BOI report, Pushpa has also become the biggest film in India in the post-pandemic era, surpassing the nett collections of the Marvel film Spiderman – No Way Home.

The first part of Pushpa, which released on December 17, features Allu Arjun as the titular Pushpa Raj. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers and set against the backdrop of red sandalwood smuggling, the film also stars Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil, while Samantha Ruth Prabhu makes a guest appearance in a special song.
