In the battle between two online video streaming giants, Amazon Prime has taken the lead over Netflix India in terms of subscription share.
According to The Times of India report, Amazon India has more subscribers than Netflix, but Netflix is leading when it comes to a global audience.
Launched last year, Amazon India has now acquired more than 10 per cent of the Indian market share, however, it is leading only in India, Japan and Germany.

An IHS Markit spokesperson told The Times of India, “To clarify, these are Amazon Prime subscribers who actively use Prime Video as opposed to the total Prime subs”
The report added that early in 2017, Amazon announced that they would invest $300 million for creating original content in Hindi and other Indian regional languages.
Netflix and Amazon Prime Video each offer free trial for a 30-day period. Their price ranges and subscription packs are somewhat similar but content vastly varies. Competing with these two are Hotstar and a few other India players.
