Deleted scenes from Anarkali of Aarah were leaked earlier this week. The film’s producers have now filed an FIR with the Malviya Nagar police station in Delhi and are hopeful of finding the person responsible for the leak.
The producer Sandip Kaur told Mid-Day that the leak may well prove to be detrimental to the film’s box office performance. “So you can imagine what happens to a film that has not even hit theatres. We have lodged a police complaint. I will not spare anyone responsible for this, even if they are part of my crew,” he stated.

Swara, who plays the lead role in the film, said that the leaked scenes give a wrong impression of the film. “It seems sensationalist and gimmicky by giving a wrong impression of the film. These scenes were integral and we shot them with respect. This is a courageous and important film that tells a story that must be seen and heard by everyone. These scenes shouldn’t be taken out of context to demean either the film or the people involved in it,” she added.
Rumours indicate that the CBFC is to blame for the leak, but Pahalaj Nihalani has refuted these claims. “Before being the CBFC chairperson, I am an industry man. The Board has never had anything to do with the leaks. I don’t blame the producers, but the CBFC has become a soft target,” he said.
