Anjala Team Lands In Trouble Over Alleged Song Plagiarism

Recommended

The team of director Thangam Saravanan’s Anjala has been accused of stealing the concept and screenplay of the song ‘Tea Podu’ by a multi-genre music group, Mamiboys. In an official statement, the group alleges that the team has copied the song from their  2013 album, ‘Dum Tea’. The songs in the Dum Tea album were well-received on iTunes and Google Play. The Mami Boys team has members from both Singapore and India. The group, which includes Krisheno, Caleb Jacob, and Kevi – J, had initially wanted to film the songs in the album, but gave up on the idea because of financial issues.

The Mami Boys have stated that, if necessary, they would take the Anjala team to Court, “We were shocked to see the visuals of Tea Podu song. The song resembled our Dum Tea concept and each and every scene that we had scripted were filmed by the Anjala team.”

Fans of the Mami Boys across the globe have expressed their support for the group via posts with the hashtag, #DumTeaVsTeaPodu on Facebook.
