Sun Pictures, which is bankrolling the film, also shared a video of Siva, the film’s director, wishing Rajinikanth for his birthday. Siva says in the video, “With the wishes from fans and the grace of god we are resuming the shooting for Annaatthe. I feel happy to commence the shooting.”

Shooting for Annaatthe was brought to a halt due to the Covid-19 pandemic. According to a Times of India report, shooting will commence at the Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad.
On December 3, Rajinikanth had said that 40 percent of the film still remained to be shot. He was speaking to the media regarding the launch of his political party. Rajinikanth also said that his political work would not hinder the shooting for Annaatthe, as it was his “duty to complete it”.
Annaatthe is helmed by director Siva and bankrolled by Kalanithi Maran under his banner, Sun Pictures. Earlier this year, the makers of Annaatthe had announced that the film would release in theatres in 2021 during Pongal.
This is Nayanthara’s fourth film with Rajinikanth after Chandramukhi, Kuselan, and Darbar. While Soori and Sathish will be working with Rajinikanth for the first time with this film, Prakash Raj was last seen with Rajinikanth as IG Subramaniam in Padayappa (1999), Meena as Ranganayaki in Muthu (1995), and Khushbu as Rekha in Pandiyan (1992).
Annaatthe will have music composed by D Imman, cinematography by Vetri Palanisamy, editing by Ruben, and art by Milan. Dilip Subbarayan is handling stunts with Brinda and Prem Rakshith choreographing dance. Anu Vardhan, Dhatsha Pillai, Shravya Varma, Anu Parthasarathy, and Sangeetha are working on costumes. Lyricists Viveka and Mani Amudhavan are penning lyrics, Aadhi Narayana is co-writing the script and Siva, Chandran, Savithri Muthu, and Bhagyaraj are jointly writing dialogues for Annaatthe.
