Actress Anushka Shetty will have a cameo appearance as Nagarjuna’s former partner and a mother in Vamsi Paidapally’s bilingual, provisionally titled Dosth and a likely remake of the 2011 French film The Intouchables. The film stars Nagarjuna, Karthi and Tamannaah Bhatia, as well as South African model Gabriella Demetriades in a prominent role. Anushka, who joined the cast in Paris to shoot for three days, will reportedly make an entrance at a crucial juncture of the plot. Barring certain patchwork segments, shooting is almost complete. Produced by PVP Cinemas, Dosth has music by Gopi Sunder.

The Intouchables was directed by Olivier Nakache and Éric Toledano and became the second biggest box-office hit in France. The story revolved around the friendship between two men, a wealthy quadriplegic (partial or total limb impairment and paralysis) and his unconventional assistant and caregiver. The film had mixed critical reviews, with the UK’s Independent calling it “a third-rate buddy movie” and wondering why the “world ha[s] flipped for it”, while The Telegraph lauded the film for giving the audience “permission to laugh with, not at, persons with disabilities”.
