Director Gopi Nainar is planning the sequel of Aramm with actress Nayanthara once again. The film is likely to begin after Nayanthara completes her upcoming projects. This comes after many media reports speculated that Gopi Nainar will replace Nayanthara due to scheduling issues.
Sources close to the film said the project has not been confirmed yet. “The director is busy with his film with actor Bobby Simha right now, more announcements about this film can be expected later this month,” the source told Silverscreen.
The director has multiple projects under production, and recently also signed a film with actress Samantha Akkineni. Refuting rumours about Samantha replacing Nayanthara in Aramm sequel, he told In.com, “Talks have been on and discussions are happening. But, it is not the sequel of Aramm. This is a fresh script and it is a women-centric film. Aramm 2 will happen only with Nayanthara and no one else. She is very busy right now, so that project will take some time to shape up.”
It is reported that the story will not be a continuation of the original, which starred Nayanthara in the role of district collector who directs rescue operations for a child stuck in a bore-well. The film released in 2017 and was also dubbed in Telugu as Karthavyam.
Nayanthara is currently busy with Vijay-starrer Bigil which is in the last schedule of shoot in Chennai and is expected to release this Diwali, and Rajinikanth-AR Murugadoss’ Darbar which is being shot in Mumbai. She has the Telugu multi-starrer Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy and the Malayalam film Love Action Drama under production.
