Produced by Moving Frame Productions that bankrolled Vikram’s Sketch, it has Regina Cassandra starring opposite Arvind Swami, while Anandraj and  Saranya Ponvannan will be seen playing pivotal roles. The film that went on floors on Wednesday is into the first schedule in Chennai, lasting 30 days. The remaining cast and crew will be announced soon.

Shooting is on at AVM Studios; major portions will be filmed in Chennai while the action scenes will be shot elsewhere. The film has cinematography by Arvind Krishna and music by Nivas K Prasanna of Thegidi fame.

The film’s spokesperson said it was a differently-envisioned action thriller. “It is too early to talk about the actors and the roles they play. The makers will officially announce it.”

Talking about the title to The Times Of India, director Rajapandi said that Kallapart is a term used in theatre to refer to the character of a thief. He added that the film features very few characters and banks on intelligence.

Earlier in an interview to India Today, the director said that the role played by Regina will be much appreciated. “We wanted a performer who is very fit. Regina is one of the fittest actors we have in the industry today. She plays a modern girl whose moves are unpredictable. We wanted a fresh actor opposite Arvind Swami and Regina was apt for it.”

Arvind has three films due for release – Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, Karthick Naren’s Naragasooran and the Nirmal Kumar-directed Sathuranga Vettai 2 – while Regina is awaiting the release of the much-delayed Nenjam Marappathillai and Venkat Prabhu’s Party, which is in post-production.
