Actor Arya, who was last seen in 2021 Tamil fantasy action film Teddy, streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, is collaborating with the director of the film, Shakti Soundar Rajan, on another Tamil film, a source close to the production told Silverscreen India on condition of anonymity.
The upcoming film, an action drama, marks the second collaboration between Arya and the director.
“However, due to the prevailing lockdown conditions, the schedule may vary a bit. Although the script has been completed, the film’s pre-production work has not yet started since there are travel restrictions in place currently,” the source said.
“In fact, Shakti (the director) had the idea for this project in mind even before he thought of the idea for Teddy,” the source said, adding that the director had started to work on the script in March 2020, after completing Teddy’s shooting. This is when the Covid-19 pandemic hit and the entire industry was brought to a standstill. “The script was written keeping Arya in mind,” the source said.
Apart from Arya, none of the other members of the cast have been finalised. “Even the technical crew is yet to be finalised. The film will be officially announced in July,” the source added.
Arya is currently awaiting the release of a number of Tamil films, including the upcoming action thriller Enemy, directed by Anand Shankar, also starring actor Vishal, and the sports drama Sarpatta Parambarai, directed by Pa Ranjith, also starring John Kokken and Pasupathy.
