‘Ayogya’ Trailer Review: Celebrates The Anti-Hero, But Will He Be Called Out Too?

The official trailer for Ayogya released recently. The film, a remake of the Telugu superhit Temper, is directed by Venkat Mohan, a former associate of AR Murugadoss. Actors Vishal and Raashi Khanna star in the lead. Music for the film is by Sam CS, cinematography by VI Karthik and editing by Ruben.

As the title suggests, Vishal plays the role of an amoral cop. He is seen striking deals with the antagonists (Parthiban and his gang), looting from the poor and objectifying women. Raashi Khanna plays an ‘animal lover’ who Vishal cheats into loving him. KS Ravikumar, his subordinate, is a cop who warns him constantly.

The scenes with Vishal as the anti-hero are uncomfortably long in the trailer. We’re not sure if the film calls him out for what he does. The focus shifts from him to the rape and murder of a woman. There’s a court scene where he says, “We have the guts to rape a woman the moment we see her. But can you give us the punishment for it right away?” It turns the tables and suggests that he admits to the rape in order to get a judgment against the crime. And this ends with him in the morally high position.

The trailer garnered 2 million views in 24 hours on YouTube. Actors Yogi Babu, Sachu, Vamsi and Pooja are part of the cast. Shraddha Das makes her Tamil debut with a song in the film, and also features in the trailer. Temper was an important film for Junior NTR’s career. The film was written by Vakkantham Vamsi. In 2017, Vishal announced that he would be acting in a film inspired by Temper.

Ayogya was launched in August 2018, and its first-look poster created a controversy when PMK leader Ramdoss asked for action against Vishal for holding a beer bottle. Vishal had said he was only holding the beer bottle and not drinking from it.

The film was supposed to release in January, but was rescheduled to release in the second week of April. The theatrical rights are with Screen Scene Media Entertainment. A release date is expected soon.
