Balaji Mohan Launches Production House ‘Open Window’

Balaji Mohan At The 'Maari 2' Press Meet

Director Balaji Mohan has launched his production house called Open Window. Their first feature film will be co-produced by Y Not Studios.

He announced the news yesterday with a poster of their logo design, and said, “Open Window started with my short films and carried on when I produced As I’m Suffering From Kadhal. We aim to support new talent, good content, healthy entertainment and crazy cinema experiments of my own and of others… films, web series and much more! We start small but dream big!”

This morning he revealed the collaboration with YNot Studios, and said that details about the project will be revealed tomorrow.

Balaji Mohan told Silverscreen that he is currently in talks with other production houses for his upcoming directorial, but at a later point he plans on producing all his films. “A part of the intention behind launching Open Window is for me to be self-sufficient and have the freedom to experiment. But I also want to want to be associated with other content and support films that relate to my sensibilities, which other production houses may not agree to back. We are looking to introduce directors of feature films, web-series and across other platforms.”

He added, “As a director, I always plan everything down to the details, so I have a production sensibility. It was after Maari that I decided to actively start collaborating with others and look for projects to launch. Finally things have fallen in place.”

His 2017 web-series As I’m Suffering From Kaadhal, released as a Hotstar original, starred him along with Sunder Ramu, Yuvina, Sananth, Sanchana Natarajan and others. His last directorial was the Dhanush and Sai Pallavi-starrer Maari 2, the sequel to his 2015 gangster film.

Balaji Mohan made his debut with Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi in 2012, and later made Vaaya Moodi Pesuvom, Love Failure in Telugu, and Samsaaram Aarogyathinu Haanikaram in Malayalam.
