Director R. Balki on Friday denied rumors about casting Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar in his next film. Talking to Deccan Chronicle, he accused the media of taking advantage of his unavailability, to make up rumors about his projects. “Outrageous, completely fabricated. I’ve been busy with my wife Gauri Shinde’s film Dear Zindagi. Taking advantage of my unavailability, a section of the media has gone berserk. I had no clue that this is been going on behind my back. When I started getting messages and calls asking about my film with Amitji and Akshay, I was like…thanks for telling me about it,” said the Ki and Ka director.
Balki added that he has been concentrating only on the production and release of Dear Zindagi, directed by his wife Gauri Shinde. “After Dear Zindagi I will start thinking about what I will do next. At the moment, all I know is that it will be a movie with actors—not an animation film.”

All Balki’s films, other than Ki and Ka, have had Amitabh Bachchan as the lead actor. Amitabh Bachchan also won his third National Award for Best Actor, for Balki’s film Paa (2009).
Balki also jokingly added “And no, it won’t be about demonetisation or about a filmmaker’s husband nearly dying of nervousness as he waits for the release of his wife’s film.” Dear Zindagi, starring Alia Bhatt and Shahrukh Khan released on Friday.
