The production house of the Dhruv Vikram starrer Varmaa, confirmed that Bollywood actress Banita Sandhu will play the female lead. This comes after E4 Entertainment’s release withdrawal, as announced on February 7. The producers said they were not happy with the film directed by Bala, and it will be re-shot with a new director.
Earlier, there were talks that late actress Sridevi’s daughter, actress Jhanvi Kapoor, may replace the original heroine Megha Chowdary. Now it is confirmed that the movie will star Banita Sandhu. The British Indian actress made her debut in popular Bollywood director Shoojit Sircar’s October. She was praised for her performance in the critically acclaimed movie.
Meanwhile, Megha Chowdary said that she was completely unaware of the Varmaa release withdrawal.
Two days after the production house’s decision, director Bala also issued a statement saying that he came out of the project after a mutual agreement. He mentioned that the changes the production house wanted him to make affected his creative freedom, and thus he was exiting the film.

It is also alleged that the fall out was because Varmaa had a run-time of two hours, as opposed to the original Telugu movie Arjun Reddy’s run time of three hours. Actor Vikram watched the final output and felt that the major portions had been left out in the remake. He wanted that changed, but the director didn’t agree to do it.
It is also reported that the assistant director of the film, Girrish, may be the new director. Shoot for the new version will begin in March, and the production house is planning a June release.
This is a much anticipated film because Vikram son’s Dhruv Vikram makes his debut as an actor. The film’s teaser and trailer were well received by the audience.
