Beep Song Controversy: Ilaiyaraaja Snaps At A Reporter

Music director Ilaiyaraaja, on Thursday, snapped at a reporter of a private TV channel, who sought his take on STR and Anirudh’s ‘Beep Song’.

The incident happened during the ‘Thank You Chennai‘ event in Ethiraj college on Thursday. Ilaiyaraaja, along with actor Nasser, was attending the event which was held to honour the relief workers in the recent Chennai floods. When the maestro was addressing the media, a reporter asked him about the ‘Beep song’ controversy. Ilaiyaraaja, visibly angry, asked the reporter, “How could you ask such a question in this place? You don’t have any brain?” When the reporter continued to say that several lyricists like Vairamuthu and writers like Rajesh Kumar had spoken against the song, the organizers chipped in and asked him to back off.

Apparently, many youngsters and fellow journalists have come in support of the reporter. Also, Chennai Union of Journalists has condemned Ilaiyaraaja’s rude behaviour. Music director and host James Vasanthan tweeted, “I should appreciate the reporter who has brought out the real character”.
