Following a contest held on a FM channel, Aviyal is the chosen title for Bench Talkies 2. The first installment of Bench Talkies was an anthology comprising six short films. Karthik Subbaraj had bankrolled the venture through his company Stone Bench Creations. Even though the movie had limited release, it received much appreciation for Subbaraj’s effort.
In light of the event, it must be noted that Subbaraj’s previous films – Pizza and Jigarthanda – were named after food items, and Aviyal quite reaffirms the trend. The filmmaker stated that since Bench Talkies 2 is a mix of different films, Aviyal would be a suitable name for it.
Karthik Subbaraj is currently filming Iraivi with Vijay Sethupathi, Bobby Simha, SJ Suryah and Anjali.
