Bhagyaraj says that victory goes hand-in-hand with trouble. The director, speaking at the audio launch of Santhoshathil Kalavaram, said that a win is not truly a win if there are no obstacles to cross.
“Director Kranti Prasad said that there were several issues while filming. I strongly believe that one is a victor only when there’s something to be won over. If there is no problem, then what are you winning? There will be victory in our lives only if there is trouble. Else, life will be the same all over.”
Bhagyaraj says that he has had his fair share of troubles, and that is what has made him the man and the director that he is today. “16 Vayathinile was my first movie as assistant director. It was Bharathiraja Sir’s first as director. We had started the film and were going to Mysore from Bangalore for a shoot. We had planned to shoot there for a month. We had just finished eating breakfast when we learnt that the shooting had been cancelled. Vandha vegathile oorukku pora maari aayiduchu,” he said.

The director also experienced some issues while filming his debut directorial Suvar Illadha Chithirangal. “A friend of mine ate some biryani. The food did something to him and suddenly he had a fit. It became a big issue. So, problems are there for everybody. We can enjoy the win only after we make sure our troubles go away. We will know the importance of shade only if we walk in the sun. Same way, we have to go through our fair share of troubles and issue if we are to learn how to truly enjoy the victories in life and career.”
Bhagyaraj also congratulated the team for trying to speak in Tamil at the audio launch. The director, Kranti Prasad, hails from Andhra Pradesh, as do most of his team. “But they tried their very best to speak in formal Tamil. If you ask me to do the same, I am sure I will falter,” Bhagyaraj said.
