Bala, who has previously worked as the Tamil dialogue writer for films such as Lucifer, Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea, Kurup, and Salute, is making his directorial debut with the film. He is also producing it with Kousalya Bala, under the RP Films banner.

Speaking to Silverscreen India about his debut, Bala says, “I wanted to get into direction for a very long time. As a team, we have been working on this film for a year. We finally locked the script last month.”

“It is a family drama based on the concept of illusion, by which I mean an incident might not have happened but it may appear otherwise. There is an element of a psychological thriller in its screenplay as well. The story revolves around a family and the events that unfold in their lives, and it is set against a contemporary, urban backdrop,” the filmmaker adds.

Bharath and Vani Bhojan are to play the roles of a husband and wife, with Vivek Prasanna and Daniel Annie Pope also part of the cast.

The film is set to go on floors on Monday. It will be completely shot in Chennai by cinematographer PG Muthiah, while the editing will be handled by Ajay Manoj.

Ronnie Raphael is scoring the background music and will compose two songs for the film, Bala notes.

The film is expected to be wrapped up in two months. “We are looking to be ready with the final output by mid-2022, and are planning for a theatrical release,” says Bala, adding that the title of the film will be announced in a while.

Bharath, who rose to fame with the 2004 film Kaadhal, was recently seen in the Dulquer Salmaan-starrer, Kurup. Vani Bhojan’s last release was the 2021 Tamil film Raame Aandalum Raavane Aandalum.
