Vijay’s upcoming Bigil will release across 400 screens in Andhra and Telangana for Diwali. We had earlier reported that the pre-release sales of the film crossed Rs 220 crore, the highest for any Vijay film.
A source close to the production told Silverscreen that the audio rights were bagged for the highest amount any Vijay movie has received thus far. “His market has been increasing over the last two-three films here. Mersal and Sarkar have done really well here. Even Theri did decent business. He’s becoming familiar to the Telugu audience,” our source said.
Vijay plays twin roles, Bigil and Michael, in the film. Bigil is speculated to be a North Chennai gangster and fisherman, and Michael will have four different looks showing his transformation from a football player and gangster to the coach of a women’s football team. Nayanathara’s role is yet to be revealed, but reports say she plays a physiotherapy student in the film.
Archana Kalpathi made the announcement on Twitter.
