C/O Kancharapalem, starring newcomers Radha Bessy, Mohan Bhagath, Praveena Paruchuri and others, was a small budget film that won a lot of appreciation, and also did well at the box office.

While the original was produced by Praveena Paruchuri on a budget of Rs 60 lakh, the remakes will be backed by Rajasekar Reddy of  horror film Tripura fame. He is planning to shell out Rs 1 crore for the films and has bought the remake rights for Rs 40 lakh.

Rajesekar was quoted as saying in a CE report that preparations for the remake have already begun. “We have set up an office in Chennai where we have completed 60 per cent of the pre-production work. We are currently scouting for locations in Tamil Nadu to shoot the film. If everything goes as planned, we will make an official announcement regarding the cast and crew in the second week of June.”

The film will go on floors in the last week of June, and is expected to wrap up by August 10 in a single schedule. Both the remakes will hit theatres by the end of the year.

The plot of the Telugu film revolves around the lives of people in a small-town and is set in Vizag. It was appreciated for its storyline and for addressing issues relating to caste, gender and religion. The film was not selected for the National Awards much to everyone’s disappointment because its producer Praveena Paruchuri is a US citizen of Indian origin.

Meanwhile, producer Rajasekar is planning to make a Telugu film soon. It is expected to be a horror film that revolves around the heroine.  More announcements are expected soon.
