The trailer of Jayasurya’s movie Captain is out. He plays the role of V.P Sathyan, the late national football team captain. Directed by Prajesh Sen, Anu Sithara will play Sathyan’s wife, Anitha Sathyan.
The two and half minute trailer features Jayasurya and Anu Sithara, along with the supporting cast which includes Renji Panikkar, Siddique and Deepak Parambol. Jayasurya has trained in football to prepare for the role. The film explores the different phases of the late footballer’s life.

It was earlier reported that the movie will feature 75 footballers. In an interview given to The Times of India, director Prajesh said, “Close to 8,500 players from various clubs across Kerala had applied for the audition. We conducted a camp and selected 700, of which 75 footballers will be seen playing in various matches in the film.”
The biopic presents V.P Sathyan’s personal life and his association with the football clubs. Sathyan was the captain of Indian national football team and also served as the assistant coach to Stephen Constantine. He played for national clubs like Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan Sporting during his career. He committed suicide in 2016.
The film is produced under the banner of Goodwill Entertainments.
