The members of All India Democratic Women’s Association from Coimbatore has filed a petition against actor STR and music director Anirudh Ravichandran for tarnishing the image of women in a composition, now popularly known as the ‘Beep Song’.

The song, the lyrics of which has several slangs and cuss words, found its way into Whatsapp and other social networking sites, where it became an instant hit. Many groups have taken offence for the words used in the song, which is now popularly known as the ‘Beep Song’. Coimbatore Police Commmissioner has filed a complaint under three sections – Section 4 read with 6 of Indecent Representation of Women Act, 509 IPC and 67 of Information Technology Act – at the Race Course Police station.
STR in his defense, said that the song was their private composition, which was not meant to be released online. He further added that he was not answerable to anybody as the song was composed when STR and Anirudh were jamming during their leisure time.
