In a lovely gesture, Singer Chinmayi Sripaada and actor Rahul Ravindran, who are getting married May 6, have requested guests to their wedding to donate to a Ladakh based charity instead of bringing gifts. “The organization is called the 17,000 ft Foundation, and it promotes schooling in Ladakh. The area remains inaccessible for most of the year due to severe weather, and these remote schools are the only hope that the children have of getting an education. Chinmayi and Rahul are blessed to have everything they need. They need the blessings of the well-wishers and the money used to buy gifts can go towards building a future for these children,” said a source close to the couple.
In an exclusive scoop, Silverscreen also found out that people not invited to the wedding can donate to the charity. The process, sources say, involves going to http://www.17000ft.org/donate.html and filling some forms. We are sure Chinmayi will thank you, as will several hundred children in Ladakh.
