The makers of the upcoming Tamil film Cobra starring Vikram, released Irrfan Pathan’s look and character name, on the cricketer’s birthday, on Tuesday.
The poster revealed that the cricketer will play the role of a French Interpol officer Aslan Yilmaz. The film also marks the cricketer’s debut in acting.
The director of the film Ajay Gnanamuthu shared the first look poster and the character name of Irrfan Pathan on Twitter.

Earlier in January, the director shared a selfie with Pathan and announced the wrap of schedule. In July, the cricketer shared a few pictures from the Cobra sets and wrote, “What an Interpol officer doing in Kolkata?? (sic)”
Cobra is touted to be a supernatural thriller. Srinidhi Shetty, who was seen in the KGF franchise, will star opposite Vikram. While Vikram’s character is named Madhiazhagan, Shetty will be playing Bhavana Menon. The film also stars Vidya Lakshmi from 13th Belief, KS Ravikumar, Shane Nigam, Poovaiyar from Super Singer, and Comali director Pradeep Ranganathan in crucial roles.

In February, the first look poster featuring Vikram in seven looks was released. Cobra will be Vikram’s 58th acting venture while Shetty’s debut in the Tamil film industry.
The cinematographer is Harish Kannan and Amaran is the art director. The film’s music is composed by AR Rahman and Bhuvan Srinivasan will be on the edit. Dancer Sathish and Dhilip Subbarayan will be choreographing dance and stunts respectively.
The film has been shot in various locations including, Chennai, Kerala, Kolkata, Russia, and other places in India and abroad. Reports state that Cobra will release in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.
On Monday, Lalit Kumar’s Seven Screen Studios, which is bankrolling the film, shared that the dubbing commenced on Vijayadashami.
