Director David Dhawan has announced that he will be working with his son Varun Dhawan for his next movie. This will mark their third collaboration after Main Tera Hero and Judwaa 2.
According to FPJ, the director said, “Varun will star in every film that I direct. That’s a promise I’ve made to myself. In fact, I am starting a film with Varun later this year.” His first film with Varun Dhawan, Main Tera Hero, was a remake of the 2011 Telugu hit Kandireega. Their second film Judwaa 2, was a reboot of his own 1997 Salman Khan starrer Judwaa.
When asked if the new film was going to be an original, the director said, “I’d like it to be an original film. We’ve zeroed in on a couple of ideas. But if these don’t work out I will remake one of my Govinda or Salman starrers with Varun.”
The director also spoke about Dhawan’s performances in his recent movies. “I was bowled over by Varun’s work last year in October and Sui Dhaaga. It’s god’s blessing.” Directed by Shoojit Sircar, October saw Dhawan essay the role of Dan, a trainee at a hotel, who, while attending to a paralysed colleague, falls in love with her. His performance in the movie was appreciated.

Meanwhile David Dhawan has also revealed that his elder son, Rohit Dhawan, will direct his third film. Rohit Dhawan had made his directorial debut with Desi Boyz starring Akshay Kumar and John Abraham, and went on to make Dishoom with Abraham and Varun Dhawan in the lead. However, the third film will not feature Varun.
Varun Dhawan recently wrapped shoot for Abhishek Varman’s Kalank. Produced by Karan Johar, the movie features Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhat and Aditya Roy Kapoor. He is set to begin shoot for Remo D’Souza’s dance film opposite Shraddha Kapoor and Prabhu Deva.
