Actress Deepika Padukone is not a part of Majid Majidi’s Beyond The Clouds. The actress had done a look test for the film in 2016; and was said to have been chosen by Majidi for a major role in the film.
However, in a recent press meet, the filmmaker confirmed that Padukone was not a part of the film. “I want to work with Deepika. But for this film we thought we will go with all new faces. We decided so because we didn’t want a mixture of experienced and new faces. It was going to be either of the two (experienced or new faces). We settled for all new star cast.”
Reports that Padukone was dropped for a different reason altogether were also in circulation. A source told DC: “Deepika gave her look test for the movie a few months back in Dhobi Talao in Mumbai. But later, things didn’t work out between her and the director. The actress was eventually dropped for the role.”
Actor Shahid Kapoor’s half-brother, Ishaan Khattar, will make his acting debut through this movie. AR Rahman will compose the music, in what is his second collaboration with Majidi. They’d earlier worked together for the controversial Muhammad: The Messenger Of God (2015).
The project went on the floors earlier this week; and is financed by Zee Studios in association with Eye Candy Films.
Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone is busy with the promotions for her debut Hollywood film, XXX: Return Of Xander Cage.
