Directed by a debutant Rajath Ravishankar, Dev is an action, adventure, romantic-thriller starring Karthi and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead. The trailer of the film released recently.
The two minute video introduces us to Karthi’s character, and shows that his life takes a turn after he falls in love. Dev is a free-spirited photographer who seeks adventure, and we know it from RJ Vigneshkanth’s dialogue, “Unn password, ‘I love adventure’ dhaana?”
Karthi wants a lot of adventure, but his friend wants him to try a bit of romance too. He agrees to start dating and falls for a business woman (Rakul Preet) whose primary focus is her work. She says, “Aan illa, initial illama kuda vaazha mudiyum (a woman can live even without the initial of a man),” and it shows her as a strong, independent woman.
Towards the end of the trailer, Karthi is seen fighting all odds to achieve his desires. It ends with a cliff-hanger, and we hear Karthi saying “Odamba valimaiyaka aayiram valigal iruku, Manasa valimaiyaka thanimaiyala mattum dhaan mudiyum (only loneliness can strengthen the heart).”
Dev is scheduled to release on February 14. It was shot in Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Himalayas and Ukraine.

The film marks the second collaboration of Karthi and Rakul after the success of Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru, directed by H Vinoth. Karthi played a police officer chasing a gang of bandits, while Rakul played his wife in the film.
Produced by Prince Pictures, music for Dev is by Harris Jayaraj. The film has a melodious track ‘Enga Di Nee Pona?’ sung by SP Balasubramaniam. Cinematography is by R. Velraj, and editing by Anthony L. Ruben. The film also stars Prakash Raj, Karthik, Ramya Krishnan, Amrutha Srinivasan and others.
