Starring Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor, Dhadak is a story of love against all odds (a casteist society in this case). Unlike the Marathi original, this version of Sairat is set in Rajasthan. The trailer starts off with a conversation between a simple, low-caste young boy and a daughter of a wealthy upper cast landlord.
Main tareliye ek din badi koti banaunga (One day I will build a mansion for you).
Badi koti nah chahiye, mane mara ghar chahiye (I don’t want a mansion, I want a house of my own).

This is followed by a series of shots where the young man falls head-over-heels in love with Janhvi and tries to impress her. However, unlike most other love stories, here we see the woman taking the upper hand, openly proposing to her man.
All is well until the villain makes his bad-ass entry in the second half. The love story suddenly transforms into a tale of blood, gun shots and gore. The couple decide to elope in the face of class and power games.
Propped up by colorful costumes and beautiful locales, Dhadak’s three-minute trailer makes the film look like the complete package.
Produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Zee Studios, the film is set to hit screens on July 20.
