Actor Dhanush, who will be next seen in the Hindi romantic drama Atrangi Re, is set to collaborate with director Arun Matheswaran for a Tamil film, a source in the know confirmed to Silverscreen India on condition of anonymity.
While an official announcement is awaited from the makers, the source added that the project will be produced by TG Thyagarajan’s Sathya Jyothi Films. The banner is currently backing Dhanush’s 43rd film, Maaran, directed by Karthick Naren.
It is notable that Dhanush recently took to social media and congratulated Arun on his upcoming directorial debut, Rocky, which is set to hit the big screens on December 23, in time for Christmas. “This film is an absolute GEM!! Watch out for some very strong performances. Especially from my beloved Bharathiraja sir. Best of luck to the entire team. Especially, the very talented Arun Madheshwaran. God bless,” the actor had tweeted.
Rocky is an action crime drama that follows the life of an individual gangster and tells a story of revenge.
Meanwhile, Arun’s second directorial, Saani Kaayidham, is also nearing completion. The film incidentally stars Dhanush’s elder brother and director Selvaraghavan in the lead role, alongside actor Keerthy Suresh. The film’s shooting has been completed and it is now in the final stages of post-production. Saani Kaayidham is also expected to be a revenge crime drama and will release sometime in early 2022.

On the other hand, Dhanush recently shared a picture from the sets of his upcoming Netflix film, The Gray Man, directed by the Russo Brothers. He also has a second project with Karnan director Mari Selvaraj in the pipeline, as well as the sequel to Aayirathil Oruvan, directed by Selvaraghavan, Thiruchitrambalam for Sun Pictures, and a Telugu film with Sekhar Kammula, among others.
