The Maari trailer has been creating waves ever since it was released, with a a slew of fan remixes going viral everyday. The surprise element in the trailer was Vijay Yesudas, who seems to have an integral role in the film, as that of a tough cop. This is the first time that Tamil audiences will get to see Vijay as an actor, and he revealed that it was indeed Dhanush who made him take up the role.

In an interview to The Times of India, the singer said, “As a friend, Dhanush asked me to think about the offer, but to take it up only if I like the script. But it is not everyday that you get a chance to act opposite Dhanush.” He further stated that Balaji Mohan is ‘a sweet director’ and the entire team made him comfortable and gave him time to settle. Vijay also added that he is still new to acting and is in no hurry to sign many films. He has previously acted in a few Malayalam films.
Maari, starring Dhanush and Kajal Aggarwal, is directed by Balaji Mohan. Vijay Yesudas, Robo Shankar, Kaali Venkat, Kalloori Vinoth and Arjunan are a part of the supporting cast. Anirudh Ravichander composes music for this film. Maari is jointly produced by Radikaa’s Magic Frames and Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films.
