Dhanush Releases Taapsee Pannu’s ‘Game Over’ Trailer, Film To Release June 14

Dhanush released the trailer of the Taapsee Pannu-starrer Game Over today. The film marks Taapsee’s return to Tamil cinema three years after Kanchana 2. She has acted in films such as Vandhaan Vendraan and Aadukalam, which co-starred Dhanush.

The trailer of the film promises a suspense thriller. Taapsee stars as a woman with post-traumatic stress, and  afraid of the dark. There’s an unknown presence in the huge house she lives in, haunting her at night, making sleep impossible. Things unfold, and we see her having panic attacks and being chased and hurt by someone. Meanwhile we hear on TV that the city is on the hunt for a killer. The trailer leaves us with this suspense.

The film is directed by Ashwin Saravanan, who made his debut with Nayanthara’s Maya in 2015. His second film Iravaakaalam, starring SJ Suryah and Wamiqa Gabbi, is also gearing up for release.

Shoot for Game Over began in October last year, when a first-look poster released, and was wrapped up by December 2018. The film will simultaneously release in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi on June 14.

Recently, director Anurag Kashyap announced that will present the Hindi remake of the film, along with YNot Studios and Reliance Entertainment. The filmmakers released a press note, and Taapsee shared it on Twitter saying she was lucky to have her film release in three languages. “For whatever little trust I have built in my audience for my choice of films, I am very confident that I will strengthen the belief further with Game Over,” she said.

Anurag Kashyap also said he was kicked to be a part of this project. “This film proves yet again that the quality of filmmaking from the south is just outstanding and it’s great to see how Ashwin Saravana has pushed boundaries and has made a genre-bending film, something that we all have never seen before,” he said.

The film is written by Ashwin Saravana and Kaavya Ramkumar, and stars Vinodhini Vaidyanathan and Anish Kuruvilla in important roles. Music is by Ron Ethan Yohann, who worked with the director on Maya. Cinematography is by A Vasanth and editing by Richard Kevin.
