Up-and-coming actor Dhruv Vikram was arrested with his friends in the early hours of Sunday for causing an accident in Teynampet that left three autorickshaws damaged and a driver injured. Dhruv, son of actor Vikram, was later let off on bail, according to a Puthiya Thalaimurai report.
Traffic Police is currently investigating the incident. The first responders to the incident were officials from the Pondy Bazaar Police Station. A representative of the station told Silverscreen: “Dhruv Vikram and his friends were booked and arrested. Shortly, they were allowed out on bail. Right now, the Traffic Wing has taken over and is investigating the incident. Three autorickshaws have been damaged. An auto driver has been hospitalised with a fracture; he was sleeping inside his auto when the accident took place.”
The team is waiting for an official report to decide on how to take the case forward. “We cannot proceed further without evidence. And, that will be made available to us sometime later. We will take a call as and when the investigation report is made available to us,” he added.
Dhruv was apparently driving his high-end car when he suddenly lost control and veered off the road. The autorickshaws that were parked on the side of the road were severely damaged. The police spokesperson says they would require extensive repair.
Dhruv, who makes his debut with director Bala’s Varma, the official remake of the Telugu superhit Arjun Reddy, later this year, has not released any statement on the accident. His spokesperson refused to comment on the details, and requested the media to grant Dhruv and his family some much needed privacy in this ‘trying time’.
“It is a terrible situation and the family is trying to make sense of the whole thing. We request the media and fans to please give them some much-needed privacy,” he said.

Meanwhile, Suriyanarayanan, President of the Vikram and Dhruv Fan Association, has issued a press release in which he attributes the accident to a lack of attention. He says that Dhruv made every effort possible to make sure that the victim was taken to a hospital as soon as possible.
A statement from Vikram said, “Dhruv was returning home in the wee hours of Sunday after visiting his friend’s place. His car unexpectedly rammed into auto after which both the vehicles were damaged. The injured auto driver was given treatment and he left home once he was fine. The accident happened due to sheer negligence.”
