Since the announcement of director Vetrimaaran and actor Dhanush’s new project Asuran, we have been hearing new updates about the movie everyday. The latest news is that director Balaji Sakthivel has joined for a prominent role in the movie, which will be his acting debut. This film is based on the novel ‘Vekkai’ written by Tamil writer Poomani.
The first look of the movie released on Twitter in December 2018. It was then announced that popular Malayalam star Manju Warrier will play the female lead role opposite Dhanush. There was also some uncertainty about Yuvan Shankar Raja or GV Prakash composing music for the film. The team recently confirmed that GV Prakash is the composer. He is composing for a Dhanush film nearly 8 years after Mayakkam Enna, following which there were some unknown issues between them which has been settled now. Velraj is the cinematographer, and Jigarthanda fame Vivek Harshan is the editor.
Earlier, it was believed that the director and actor’s next would be Vada Chennai 2. However, they halted the project for a while and started working on Asuran.
It is said that director Balaji Sakthivel may be playing the antagonist in the film. An official announcement on this is yet to come. The director, who is known for his hard-hitting films like Kaadhal, Kallori, and Vazhakku En 18/9, is currently working on his project Yaar Ivargal. The teaser of the film released in mid 2018. It seems to be a socio-political thriller.
Asuran also stars Ken Karunas, son of actor Karunas, who was last seen in the movie Azhagu Kutti Chellam. The film is produced by Kalapuli S Thanu, and the shooting is in process.
