Filmmaker S Hari Uthraa, who is currently awaiting the release of his sports drama No.6 Vaathiyaar Kaalpanthatta Kuzhu, released the poster of his upcoming Tamil film Lipstick on social media on Tuesday.
Hari, who has also written the story, dialogues, and screenplay, has co-produced the film along with Jaya Karikalan.
Speaking to Silverscreen India, the filmmaker said that Lipstick is an investigation thriller and an “art-house type of film.”
“It is about something that happens on social media, which needs awareness. There are many fake accounts, created by miscreants, who target people to blackmail and then make video calls and chat on social media with them over a period of time. Most of them use morphed images and chat under fake profiles. The film deals with such stuff and is based on multiple true incidents,” he added.
Hari said that the title, Lipstick, refers to how victims are often trapped by fake profiles that pretend to be women. “There are men who use female names and details to trap other men. There are many who are not aware that such cyber crimes take place, and this film is meant to create awareness about this issue.”
The filmmaker began writing this script during the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, even as he was working on No.6 Vaathiyaar Kaalpanthatta Kuzhu.

Lipstick is currently in pre-production and the makers are busy with location scouting and casting. “It is a city-based film, but we will not mention the name of the place. We have planned to shoot in Coimbatore and Tiruchi. The story takes place in a middle-class family. We will commence shooting from August 20. It will take at least three months to finish filming,” Hari added.
Speaking about No.6 Vaathiyaar Kaalpanthatta Kuzhu, the filmmaker said that the post-production work has been completed and the film’s first copy is ready. “We will be sending it to CBFC for certification next week. We are still waiting to determine if we have to opt for an OTT release or can wait for theatres.”
The filmmaker revealed that he is also working on a script that deals with education.
