Director Sundar C will soon be facing the camera. He will reportedly be seen in a lead role in director VZ Durai’s horror film. Durai’s last directorial venture was Yemaali – a romantic thriller starring Samuthirakani and Athulya Ravi.
According to a report in Cinema Express, actor VTV Ganesh, who is bankrolling the film, will also be starring in it. The film will also feature Yogi Babu in a prominent role.
E Krishnasamy, popularly known as Kicha, is the cinematographer of the film, while Sudarshan is the editor. Art director Muthu, who is currently working on Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, will join Durai’s film as well. The film is expected to go on floors mid-July.
This is, however, not Sundar’s first acting gig. He was last seen in the 2016 comedy drama Muthina Kathirika. The film was directed by Venkat with Poonam Bajwa and Sathish in the lead roles.
The director’s last project was Kalakalappu 2, a sequel to the 2012 comedy hit. He had also produced the musical romance Meesaya Murukku, starring Hip Hop Tamizha Aadhi, last year.
Meanwhile after a long delay, the shoot for Sundar C’s Sangamithra will reportedly begin in August. The film was launched last year, but has faced several delays leading to reports that it was shelved.
According to a source, “The delay was caused by Shruti Haasan’s exit. We had to find a replacement for her. Now that Disha Patani has stepped in to play the lead role, we had to figure out the schedules of other actors as well. Thenandal Films was busy promoting Mersal and so we had to wait for a while. Now that the focus is back on Sangamithra, we will go on floors soon.”
The film’s team launched the posters of the film at the Cannes Film Festival last year. The project’s then female lead, Shruti Haasan, attended the event along with Jayam Ravi, who is the male lead. However, she later announced her exit from the film.
