Imtiaz Ali’s romantic comedy — Jab Harry Met Sejal — starring Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma failed to make an impact in the box office despite being a film most had been looking forward to.
According to a Bollywood Hungama report, the film fared poorly at the box office and now distributors and exhibitors want SRK to refund their money.
NH Studioz has suffered the highest loss this year and went on to seek help from SRK, imploring him to do what Salman Khan did when Tubelight failed to do well at the box office. They have asked for a refund for the losses since SRK had made good profits from the pre-sale of all-India rights to NH Studioz, satellite, music and digital rights.
NH Studioz had reportedly acquired the all-India rights of Kabir Khan’s Tubelight for Rs 132 crore and Jab Harry Met Sejal for Rs 80 crore. But after Tubelight’s poor performance, not many wanted to invest in the SRK starrer, forcing Narendra Hirawat of NH Studioz to undersell the territorial rights of the film. This has resulted in even the distributors who bought the rights to the film at lower prices lose a lot of money.
