Rockline Venkatesh, who produced Lingaa, has revealed that the distributors’ protest is ‘politically motivated’. In an interview to Economic Times, Venkatesh declared that distributor Singaravelan ‘is a part of a conspiracy against Rajinikanth’. ET quoted Venkatesh as saying, “I think it is politically motivated to tarnish the superstar’s name, weaken his image, and scare him away from politics. Rajinikanth is a very big name in Tamil Nadu… TN elections are due next year, and Rajini sir cannot afford to miss the opportunity this time because he is 64 now.”
The producer also said that Rajinikanth is “very upset” that the distributors chose to protest. “They are trying to take undue advantage of Rajinikanth, just because he is considerate,” he added.
Meanwhile, the distributors have decided to stage another hunger-strike to resolve the issue.
