Reports indicate that actor Vikram is in talks to star in the remake. Vikram will reportedly reprise actor Stephen Lang’s role in the film. Stephen Lang played a blind assassin in the project, and it is believed that this aspect of the role drew Vikram to it. Vikram had played a blind man in director Vijay’s Thaandavam (2012).
A source close to the actor told Silverscreen, “Things are still in the preliminary stage. Nothing has been finalised yet, though Vikram has expressed an interest in the role offered to him.”

Reports indicate that K E Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green holds the remake rights to the film. A representative for Raja denied the rumours.
