Director Santhosh P Jayakumar, known for making adult comedies like Hara Hara Mahadevaki, is gearing up for the release of a family drama titled Ghajinikanth.
It was producer K E Gnanavelraja who had approached the director with the film. At a press meet on Friday, the director said the pre-production work on the film is over and the film’s shoot was wrapped up in 38 days. All this happened while the director was working on Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuththu (IAMK).
“Santhosh is one of the fastest directors in Tamil cinema,” said choreographer Baba Basker at the event.
Abinesh Elangovan, the distributor of the film, said Ghajinikanth is a complete family drama with a good ensemble cast. “Earlier, Santhosh was criticized for his brand of films, but he made those movies because there was demand for it. With this film, he has proved that he can make any kind of film,” he said.
The director said that he is often asked the question whether he will be taking his family to watch movies like Hara Hara Mahadevaki and IAMK. Defending these films, he said, “They are given an ‘A’ certificate which means adults who are 18 and above should watch the films. The audience has the maturity to take call on these movies.”
Referring to Ghajinikanth, Santhosh said, “Please watch this film with your family and don’t force me to make films where you can’t take your family.”

The comedy-drama produced by Studio Greens, stars Arya and Sayyeshaa in the lead, while Karunakaran, Sathish, Sampath and Aadukalam Naren are in supporting roles.
The film will focus on Arya (Rajinikanth) who tends to forget things just like Rajinikanth’s character in Dharmathin Thalaivan – hence the title. The film is about how his forgetful nature takes a toll on his family and love life.
It is an official remake of the 2015 Telugu movie, Bhale Bhale Magadivoy, starring Nani and Lavanya Tripathi, and directed by Maruthi Dasari.
The film will hit the screens on August 3. Music for the movie is composed by Balamurali Balu and cinematography is by Ballu.
