Drishyam 2 is a sequel to the 2013 thriller, also directed by Jeethu Joseph. Produced by Antony Perumbavoor, Drishyam 2 features the original cast members reprising their roles. In the prequel Drishyam, Mohanlal played Georgekutty, Meena essayed the role of his wife Rani, Ansiba Hassan featured as the elder daughter Anju and Esther Anil played the younger daughter Anu.
Bennet M Varghese, who works on the camera department of the film, also shared a picture of the cast members dressed in their roles to announce the wrap and captioned it as, “That’s a wrap.. #Drishyam2 Thank you so much @jeethu4ever @satheesh_kurup @mohanlal @lintajeethu @antonyperumbavoor @meenasagar16”
The film’s shooting took place in Thodupuzha region in the Idukki district of Kerala.
In October, the crew ran into trouble after the Panchayat members lodged a complaint against the crew for shooting in a protected area that comes under the Haritha Kerala Mission project in Kudayathur Panchayat in Idukki. The land was taken up for afforestation causes and was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan a few days prior to the incident. However, the issue resolved after Idukki district Collector H Dinesan permitted the crew to shoot under certain conditions.
