Actor Dulquer Salman will be essaying the role of yesteryear actor Gemini Ganesan in Mahanati, a biopic of the legendary actress Savitri. According to the IANS report, the movie will go on floors in June and the rest of the cast and crew will be finalised soon.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film will be shot in Tamil and Telugu.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu plays a pivotal role in the film, and the story will be narrated through her perspective while Keerthy Suresh essays the role of actress Savitri.
“It’ll be a magnum opus period film set in the golden era. With massive set pieces, the film will be unlike anything we’ve explored in Indian cinema,” the director is quoted as saying in the report.
