Fahadh Faasil Announces Next Film, Joji, with Director Dileesh Pothan

Actor Fahadh Faasil has teamed up once again with director Dileesh Pothan and scriptwriter Syam Pushkaran for an upcoming film titled Joji. Releasing the film’s poster on social media on Saturday, the actor said the film was inspired by William Shakespeare’s play Macbeth.

Bankrolled under the Bhavana Studios banner in association with Fahadh Faasil and Friends & Working Class Hero production banners, the film is set to release in 2021. While Shyju Khalid will be taking care of cinematography and Justin Varghese will be composing music.

Speaking about the film, Pushkaran told The Times of India that the film is a contemporary take on Macbeth and Fahadh is playing the titular role of Joji. He also told the publication that no battle scenes are being included in the film. Further, Syam also confirmed to the publication that the team is planning to start shooting by November and the principal locations will be Mundakkayam and Erumeli.

The trio- Fahadh, Dileesh, and Syam- have tasted success with their critically acclaimed films like Maheshinte Prathikaaram, Kumbalangi Nights, and Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum. They had earlier announced their collaboration on a new project Thankam, for which the shooting is yet to begin. Since then, there hasn’t been any update on the same. Actors Joju George and Dileesh were also mentioned as lead actors for the film.

Fahadh is shooting for Irul, which is being directed by debutant Naseef Yousuf Izuddin. The actor will be seen sharing screen space with Soubin Shahir and Darshana Rajendran. The actor’s next release will be Malik which has been directed by Mahesh Narayanan. He was last seen in C U Soon, which was shot entirely during the Covid-19 related lockdown. The film also starred Roshan Mathew and Darshana Rajendran.
