Brad Pitt was being investigated for child abuse after multiple sources accused him of becoming physically and verbally abusive towards his son Maddox on a private jet. The news surfaced a few days after his wife, actress Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from him. The incident allegedly triggered the couple’s much talked about split.

TMZ states: “He allegedly went wild, screaming and getting physical with the kids… the plane landed at an airport around 8pm, and witnesses say Pitt continued his rant on the tarmac, and even tried leaving in one of the fuel trucks.” The incident was allegedly reported to authorities either by someone on the plane, or a member of the ground staff.

A number of law enforcement sources had told TMZ that it was almost certain no charges would be brought against Pitt, as there was no way to prove conclusively that he deliberately hurt his son Maddox.

Angeline Jolie, 41, filed for divorce from Bard Pitt, 52, in a Los Angeles court on the 20 September, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple was married for two years and had been together for 12. The actress has requested sole physical custody of the children, a decision made “for the health of the family”, in a statement released by her attorney.
