Force 2 To Release As Planned. “Our Duty To Stand With Government”

Vipul Shah intends to go ahead with the release of his film Force 2 as planned. The demonetization initiative of PM Narendra Modi has thrown the film industry into chaos. Many films that released over the weekend recorded dismal turnouts in theatres. As people throng banks and ATMs to change money, films are played for half-empty theatres.

Shah is unfazed by this though. In a recent Indian Express report, Shah said that he felt it was his duty to stand with the Government.

“The country is going through a change and our PM has taken a step that will change our country and the whole country needs to stand behind it. People are supporting the decision too. They must be going through a lot of stress owing to standing in long queues, shortage of money and all other problems but when you look at people talking on camera on news channels, they are saying yes there are hardships but we support Modi. And these are the not the rich people of our country. So we feel it is our duty to stand with our government and not create chaos by shifting our film and making it clash with some other film.”

Vipul Shah accepted the fact that the film will lose some money at the box office. “Yes, we will lose some money for sure. Whatever is the capacity of the film, we will underachieve it because there is a lot of stress. At the same time, we also need to think how people have been standing in queues for days. From 8th November to 18th November after having suffered a lot of hardship when they will look for entertainment, it is not fair on our part to not release the film because we will suffer losses. We need to be there for them. We will accept losses that we will incur as a part of life. You have to deal with them and move on. But to entertain is our responsibility.”

Force 2 has John Abraham, Sonakshi Sinha, Tahir Raj Bhasin in the lead roles. Force 2 is the sequel to Force, the Hindi remake of Tamil film Kaakha Kaakha. The sequel is written by Parveez Sheikh, and is directed by Abhinay Deo.  It is scheduled to release on November 18 and has a special appearance by Genelia D’Souza.
