Actress Gautami Tadimalla has written a strongly-worded blog post imploring Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the rumours about late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha’s death.
On 8 December, three days after Jayalalitha’s death, Gautami had written a public letter to the PM requesting him to look into the secrecy surrounding Jayalalitha’s sudden passing. Gautami said that people had a right to expect answers to the “unanswered questions” her death had raised.
With no response from Modi or his office, Gautami has now written:
“I, we, have been waiting. Waiting and hopeful of meaningful support and response from our Central Government. Respectful of the demands of due process and the inner workings of government and politics. However, there must come a time when we must ask if this silence is more than a preoccupation with matters of “greater” importance. What is the message inherent in such a steadfast silence on a matter critical to the very basis of a democratic state and the safety and security of it’s citizens?”

Gautami stressed that citizens had a right to clear answers when a well-loved leader died in office under suspicious circumstances:
“Amma is a leader who has a lasting and very real bond with the crores of her people who love and respect her. Our anguish and our grief must be respected and honoured with answers. With the truth.”
While the post, titled “The Greater Tragedy of Ignored Voices” itself has gained a lot of attention, Tadimalla is yet to receive any response from the PM’s office.
