Gautham Menon and Silambarasan will team up for a new film. Sources say that this new project is not the much talked about sequel to their 2010 hit Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya. Nor is it Ondraaga, the ensemble film that was supposed to unite stars from all four South Indian film industries – Puneeth Rajkumar, Prithviraj, and Sai Dharam Tej.
The new project is an action film with music composed by AR Rahman. Spokespersons for Gautham Menon and Silambarasan confirmed that the project was in the offing. They said that the film will go on floors later this year, once all parties involved wrap up their existing commitments.
Silambarasan’s spokesperson told Silverscreen that the movie has been in discussion for quite some time. “Talks have been going on for few months. It is only now that we have confirmed. It’s too early to announce the rest of the cast and crew.”
But the first look for the movie and the title logo will be revealed as early as next month, the spokesperson confirmed. Gautham Menon’s Ondraaga Entertainment will also be attached to the project.
Silambarasan has been mired in controversy recently. The producer of Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangathavan, Michael Rayappan, filed a complaint against Silambarasan with the Producers Council, in which Gautham Menon holds a key position, alleging that the actor was responsible for a loss of Rs 20 crores. He said that Silambarasan shot for only 27 days for the film while he had originally committed 60 days for the project. He has urged the council to make sure that Silambarasan provides compensation. Another film producer has filed a legal suit against the actor seeking retrieval of an advance amount paid to Silambarasan for a film that was dropped.

The actor also reportedly received a red notice from the Producers Council last year, following multiple complaints against him from producers. It remains to be seen if these conflicts affect the new movie with Gautham Menon.
Gautham Menon has Enai Nokki Paayum Thota with Dhanush, Megha Akash, Vinayakan and Sasikumar. The film is currently in post production and is scheduled to release for Deepavali this year.
Silambarasan has signed on for the Tamil remake of Attarintiki Daredi. Sundar C directs this movie with Catherine Tresa as the female lead.
