Speaking to Silverscreen, filmmaker Gunasekhar said that he spent nine years researching highly anticipated Telugu period drama Rudhramadevi. The film is about the erstwhile rule of the Kakatiya dynasty, Rudhramadevi, and Gunasekhar said: “Our film is as authentic as anyone can imagine it to be. The story of Rudhramadevi has stayed with me since I read about her in school. I never thought that I would direct her story, but after I became a filmmaker, I decided to tell her story come what may.” The film will finally release on September 4, after months of delay. Confirming the release date, the director said that the team is currently busy with post-production work, and plans to release the movie in Tamil as well as Malayalam. The film features Anushka Shetty as queen Rudhramadevi, along with an ensemble cast of Prakash Raj, Nitya Menen, Catherine Tresa, Allu Arjun, Rana Daggubati, and Krishnam Raju.
