Idhe Maa Katha, the upcoming Telugu film starring Sumanth Ashwin, Srikanth, Bhumika Chawla, and Tanya Hope, is set to release theatrically on Saturday.
The film, which is written and directed by Guru Pawan, is produced by Mahesh Golla under the Gurrappa Parameswara Productions banner. The trailer of the film was released on Thursday.
Speaking to Silverscreen India, Guru said about his debut film, “It is an adventure drama about four bikers who are strangers to each other. They come from different age groups and undertake a bike ride to Ladakh. Each of them has a backstory as to why they are taking this ride.”
Elaborating on the characters, the director said, “Srikanth plays a 50-plus-year-old from Chennai, who is on a long-pending destiny ride to Ladakh. He was previously in love with a girl in Ladakh. Years later, he undertakes this bike ride to the place. Tanya plays a frustrated girl, a tomboy from Chandigarh who is reeling over a love failure. Sumanth essays a professional racer – a competitive person. Bhumika plays a housewife from Bangalore, who wants to fulfil her late father’s dream through the bike ride.”
The filmmaker added that his primary requirement from all the actors was that they should know how to ride a bike. “Most of the riding scenes in the film were done by the actors themselves, barring the stunt sequences. All of them would have ridden about 2000 km during the course of the shooting.”
Guru, who wrote the film about two years ago, is a biker himself. “I bought a Royal Enfield bike in 2017. It was during one of my bike rides, from Hyderabad to Sringeri, that I got the idea for this film. Later, I developed it into a script.”

The film has been shot by cinematographer C Ram Prasad in Hyderabad, Agra, Nagpur, New Delhi, Manali and Ladakh. It went on floors in March 2020 but was halted due to the pandemic. Production resumed in October that year and was wrapped this January.
Sunil Kashyup has composed five songs for the film. Idhe Maa Katha, which is edited by Junaid Siddiqui, has a runtime of two hours and 20 minutes. It has been certified ‘U’.
Interestingly, Guru revealed that Tamil actor Ajith Kumar, an avid car racer himself, watched the teaser of Idhe Maa Katha and expressed his appreciation. “Since my cinematographer is a close friend of Ajith’s, he showed him the teaser of the film and Ajith appreciated it. It was a very, very nice feeling since he is one of my inspirations,” the filmmaker added.
Idhe Maa Katha is set to release in over 150 screens in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
