The 19th edition of the International Indian Film Academy awards was held in Bangkok this year. It was a star-studded event with Anupam Kher, Anil Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Dia Mirza, Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor walking the green carpet at the Siam Niramit theatre.
Among the winners, Vidya Balan’s Tumhari Sulu bagged the Best Film award while Newton got an award for the Best Story.
Sridevi was posthumously given the Best Actress award for her searing portrayal of an anguished mother in Mom; while actor Irrfan Khan walked away with the Best Actor award for his performance in Hindi Medium. Dinesh Vijan, producer of the movie, collected the award on his behalf.
Meanwhile, Meher Vij and Nawazuddin Siddiqui were chosen as the Best Supporting Actors for their work in Secret Superstar and Mom respectively. Siddiqui talked at-length about his late co-star, Sridevi, and dedicated his award to her.
Actor Anupam Kher was given the award for Outstanding Achievement in Indian Cinema.
Pritam scored an award for his background music in Jagga Jasoos, while Amaal Malik, Tanishq Bagchi and Akhil Sachdeva won the Best Music Director award for their contribution in Badrinath Ki Dulhania.
