Today, the court heard the petition filed by producer JSK Satish Kumar before a bench headed by Justice K Kalyanasundaram. After hearing both sides of the argument, the judge adjourned the case.

JSK Satish Kumar’s side argued that no decision was taken during the general executive body meeting of the TFPC. They requested the court to order the council to submit documents related to the sales of tickets on Book My Show, and asked for the appointment of a retired judge to monitor the general elections and the expenses made for the event. They said that Vishal and other members were organising the event to collect money for the council, after initially saying that the event was a tribute to the composer.

Vishal’s advocate said that they had submitted all documents regarding the event. They argued that the event was being conducted to collect money to build houses for the members of the council. The account details for the year 2017 – 2018 will be submitted during the general body meeting, they said, adding that Rs 35 lakh was given to YMCA, Rs 25 lakh was paid to Ilaiyaraaja for the event, and this was decided only after a discussion with the council members.

On January 22, producer JSK Satish Kumar had filed a petition against the TFPC, seeking a stay on the Ilaiyaraaja 75 event, alleging financial discrepancies in the council’s funds. He asked where the council had spent its deposit amount of Rs 7 crore, and demanded that they reimburse the amount before conducting the event.

Since December, producers have been vocal about their dissatisfaction with Vishal as the TFPC president, and about the lack of transparency in the council accounts. A group of dissenting producers had also sealed the office of TFPC in T Nagar, Chennai, which lead to a controversy.
